Bart O'Reilly, was born in Dublin, Ireland (1975) He graduated from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin in 2000 (BFA First Class Honors/Magna cum laude). He participated in exhibitions in Ireland and Northern Ireland including Group Six at the Rubicon gallery in Dublin in 2001 and Painted at the Sligo Art gallery in 2003. The shows received coverage in the Irish media including an article by Aidan Dunne in The Irish times.
Today he is based at Load of Fun Studios in Baltimore and has been written about in The City Paper, Urbanite Magazine, The Examiner and The Baltimore Sun. In 2005 he had his first solo exhibition Passing Places at Montage Gallery in Baltimore. This was followed by Found Fragments at the Creative Alliances Amalie Rothschild Gallery in 2006. In 2007 Bart and then studio mate Daniel Stuelpnagel mounted a very well received solo exhibition Materializing the Story in their space at Load of Fun, the show was sponsored by the Embassy of Ireland in Washington DC and got a very positive review in the Baltimore City Paper. In 2008 he was part of another two person exhibition, Slippages at A-X-D Gallery in Philadelphia with Sheldon Drake. Also that year he took part in a group exhibition Escape at the American Contemporary Gallery in Annapolis Maryland. In 2009 Bart was invited to be part of an Artscape exhibition Where the Sun Don’t Shine at Nudashank Gallery in Baltimore, Maryland. This January he put new work in the Load of Fun Residents show We Are All Neighbors. At the moment he is working towards his first solo show in Washington DC which will be called Old Lines from the Luminous State at will be held at the Flashpoint gallery with help from sponsor and curator Linda Murray at Solas Nua.
Bart runs an art program for adults with developmental disabilities in Ann Arundel County Maryland and is currently work on his MFA at MICA in Baltimore.
